Porcelain that looks like onyx and exotics

Onyx & Exotic porcelain brings the glowing colors and bold, flowing veins of onyx, and the rare colors and patterns of exotic surfaces, to feature walls, bathrooms, reception desks and kitchen backsplashes, in a surface that is non-porous and needs no sealing. In large-format slabs, bookmatched designs mirror the veining from one slab to the next, so a whole wall reads as one piece.

Start with Blue Storm Onyx for a bold, bookmatched feature wall, Agate White and Agate Grey for softer, lighter onyx, and Gold Agate Onyx for warm, golden veins.

Where Onyx & Exotic porcelain works best

Onyx & Exotic porcelain FAQ

Does onyx-look porcelain look like real onyx?

Yes. The bands, clouds and color of onyx are reproduced from natural slabs in high definition, and on bookmatched slabs the veining mirrors from one slab to the next, so a wall reads as one continuous piece of onyx.

Is onyx-look porcelain a good alternative to real onyx?

Yes, for most projects. Natural onyx is soft and porous and needs regular sealing; porcelain is non-porous, hard to scratch and never needs a sealer, so the onyx look can go on bathroom walls, backsplashes and busy reception desks.

What does bookmatched mean?

Bookmatched slabs are made as mirror images of each other. Installed side by side, the veining meets at the joint and opens like the pages of a book, the classic way to show onyx on a feature wall. See our large-format slabs.

Does Onyx & Exotic porcelain need sealing?

No. Porcelain absorbs almost no water, so it never needs a sealer. Clean it with water and a mild, pH-neutral cleaner; our porcelain tile cleaning guide has the details.

Where does Onyx & Exotic porcelain work best?

On the surfaces people see first: feature walls, fireplace surrounds, reception desks, bathroom walls and kitchen backsplashes. On floors, choose a matte finish or a calmer design and keep the boldest veining for the walls.
